The typical tasks of a Sommelier include the cellar mamagement, wine tasting and evaluation, and how to combine them with the most appropriate gastronomical preparations. To do that you have to have a wide preparation that starts from the knowledge of vines and the way they are grown and, going through the wine-making and wine-aging techniques, arrives to the ability of evaluating a wine with competence, in all its aspects.

I strongly believe that wine is not a mystical subject understood by only a few people and shouldn't be approached with fear: it's up to you to decide whether a wine is good, since it is for your personal pleasure. Experts' judgment is secondary.

One goal of mine, perhaps the main one, with setting up this site is to provide you with all the knowledge, easily presented, that allows you to understand why you like a certain wine but you don't another one. This will allow you to order or purchase wine on every occasion, sure of the result (and to your friends' envy).

All activities organized by ilsommelier are backed by years of studies and experiences "on the field" and are intended for everyone, really.
